宋元风俗:客至泡茶，送客时再以沸水冲茶，谓之点汤。因以为送客、逐客之词。 2.以沸水冲泡。宋、元时习惯于客人来时以茶招待，而送客时则以汤相别，因此点汤成为送客、逐客之词。见宋．朱彧《萍州可谈．卷一》。
