释义	繡衣直指 xiù yī zhí zhǐ官名。漢武帝天漢年間，民間起事者衆，地方官員督捕不力，因派直指使者衣繡衣，持斧仗節，興兵鎮壓，刺史郡守以下督捕不力者亦皆伏誅。後因稱此等特派官員爲繡衣直指。繡衣，表示地位尊貴；直指，謂處事無私。後亦稱繡衣使者。繡衣直指本由侍御史充任，故亦稱繡衣御史。王莽時改稱繡衣執法。見《漢書．百官公卿表上》，又《武帝紀》、《元后傳》、《後漢書．伏湛傳》。
