释义	戒臘 jiè là亦作戒蠟。僧徒受戒後的年數。宋羅燁《醉翁談錄．僧行因禍致福》:僧既遭刑而歸﹐治療獲安﹐得高壽﹐享年九十六﹐戒臘七十一年﹐剃度小師凡五人﹐豈非因禍致福也？《敕修百丈清規．節臘》:僧不序齒而序臘﹐以別俗也……凡禪誦行坐﹐以受戒先後爲次。一說﹐僧徒結夏時﹐造一重量與本人相等的蠟人。解夏時﹐若體重不輕於蠟人﹐說明念定無妄想；反之﹐則精神不一。以此測定僧徒戒行﹐故稱。晝則講說，夜則禪定，以深通佛法為長。其次依戒臘行坐。明．田汝成《西湖遊覽志餘．卷一四．方外玄蹤》
