端粒酶,是端粒末端转移酶telomeric terminal transferase的缩写,是一种自身包含RNA模板为核糖蛋白复合体,在激活状态下能发挥逆转录酶活性,特异延长染色体末端DNA的重复序列,从而抵消或延缓端粒在正常情况下随细胞分裂的不断缩短。首次由Morin于1989年从Hela细胞系中检测出来。其后的研究表明,几乎所有的永生化细胞核大部分的肿瘤尤其是恶性肿瘤组织中均有明显的端粒酶活性阳性率高于80%25
